It was a cold and rainy night in 2006 that I checked myself out of the Mayo Clinic. I was 32 years old, a husband and father of a three-year old son, who had spent more than three years battling an "un-diagnosable" life threatening illness. Specialist after specialist had failed to find the cause of my physical problems, and I finally had ended up at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. I had been told I had a "mass in my chest", a cholesterol level "off the charts" and an assortment of other ugly indications that might, or might not, be at cause. I was given a host of medicine and the admonition that I must have a follow-up chest exam to determine possible thoracic surgery!

As I drove back to Indianapolis I had what, in retrospect, was an epiphany regarding my health. I suddenly "knew" that the responsibility and solutions for my own health was up to me, Some might say I was in denial, but after three years of being poked, probed and frightened...all without a "scientific explanation or solution" to my health issues, I felt I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

With this conviction, along with an old bicycle in my garage, I began a journey that 10 later months saw all of my ailments disappear! I had stopped taking any medication, the mass in my chest had continued to decrease in size (all but disappearing) and I had lost over 80 pounds. My "program" was self-developed. Deciding that I would operate purely in a “logical” fashion, dismissing anything that didn’t make sense. As you can imagine, the details of my transformation would take some time to describe. Encounters with those who had known me prior to my transformation, were often met with shock. Over and over I would tell the whole story, so, eventually, I began to share the details via a blog. Through the interactions and relationships I made over the following year, my desire to bring about change in others grew stronger and stronger. From this, the concept of Yootrain was born.
